Munkey see, Munkey do...

So Drew Moss approached me a while back, and asked if I'd like to join him and a few other creators on a rotating blog that would showcase our work to the masses. Obviously my answer was yes, or you wouldn't be reading this now, but at first I wasn't honestly sure what I'd be able to contribute. I'm a writer by trade (in case anybody was wondering), and while I'm filled to the brim with ideas for stories, writing can be a relatively solitary existence. I'm not exactly tapping strangers on the shoulder to share my stories with them all that often.

Even when the blog went live, it was a struggle for me to think of something worthwhile to post. I'm not sure if this qualifies, actually, but once I saw Bob post his script, and Drew start sharing his character designs and the things he's got lined up for the future... Well, that was when I remembered why I'd agreed to join in the first place. You see, I didn't join this group simply to showcase my work. Don't get me wrong, I would like to do that (and I will), but it's not the primary reason I signed up. My real motivation for joining this jolly band is that each and every person sharing their work and their thoughts on this blog are passionate about the same thing I'm passionate about--storytelling. Each of these creators will dazzle with their work, and my brain is already dazed from the combination of posts that have already gone up.

But, you see... that's why I'm writing this blog post, and that's why I joined the group. Because when you're a creator, and talented creators showcase their work to you or around you, it inspires you to do the same. I'm inspired when I see the work my fellow story munkeys are producing on a regular basis, and that inspiration serves to drive me as I endeavor to complete my own work. So when I see Jim post a sketch, or Bob drop a script, or Paul accentuate a piece of art with just the right combination of hues, it really gets me in the mood to write something that just might be able to stand up to the rest of the quality work these talented bastards are turning out in rapid-fire fashion.

What can I say... I'm a story munkey. I see. I do.

Watch me dance.
